Summary: | Indonesia currently has a population of approximately 265 million, with 10% of the population being people who are over 60 years old or elderly. From year to year, the number of the elderly population continues to increase and the Central Statistics Agency estimates that the number will reach 19.9% or around 63.3 million people by 2045. Increasing the number of the elderly will of course have consequences that are not simple because one of the biggest causes of death in the elderly is a stroke, followed by a heart attack and lack of supervision. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor the health condition in the elderly using Ambient Assisted Living System to avoid these undesirable things. The Ambient Assisted Living system (AAL) is a smart monitoring system for the elderly's health conditions by integrating the hardware in the form of a camera, wearable device, and smartphone with its interface with the aim of reducing the risk of unwanted events for alone-living elderly. The monitoring system interface will be based on an Android application and consists of two apps; User app called SMILE User and Family app called SMILE Family. These apps can monitor the condition of the elderly's heart rate in real-time from wearable devices via the MQTT server. In addition, the interface has Android notifications and automatic SMS sending that works when the heart rate is detected abnormally with abnormalities function following the standards of the American Heart Association. The monitoring system also has a location tracking feature of the elderly and it works well whose location data is sent via Firebase to the family App. To implement 24-hour nonstop monitoring, the system is designed to run continuously even though the application is closed thanks to the Always-On Monitoring feature so that the family can carry out continuous supervision of the elderly and can prevent unwanted conditions as early as possible. |
