The data used are field data within a certain timeframe in 2006 and 2007. The study location is divided into four, Tanjung Redeb which is upstream, Batu Batu is in the middle, Semanting and Muara Tumbuk which are located downstream of the Berau Delta. The results showed that the duration of retrieval data affected the percentage of field data matching with prediction data and the number of components produced. The value of tidal elevation is smaller and less asymmetrical from downstream to upstream due to reduced depth. The asymmetry of the tides is marked by the difference in duration when going to the tides and towards the tides, and the difference in the duration of the two events decreases from upstream to downstream. Calculation of AM4/AM2 ratio which represents the friction effect (Speer and Aubrey, 1985), the value increases from downstream to upstream, with a maximum ratio of 0,1 at Tanjung Redeb causing a transformation in tidal elevation amplitude of 37% from Batu Batu, while the lowest at Muara Tumbuk is 0,018. The amplitude ratio value of M4/K1 and MS4/K1 enlarges upstream which indicates the effect of non-linear interaction between the main tidal components with bathymetry of shallow waters (Mohamad, 2012). The amplitude values of the main tidal components (O1, K1, M2, and S2) are reduce between 18% to 30%, while the amplitude values of the shallow water tidal components (M4 and MS4) increase between 251% and 360% from downstream to upstream. The tidal wave propagation of the main tidal component from downstream to upstream, while the tidal component of shallow water towards Batu Batu. text
