RISK ASSESSMENT FOR BADAK LNG BUSINESS DIVISION: LNG LEARNING CENTRE AND TECHNICAL SERVICES PROVIDER

Badak LNG, which previously is a non-profit LNG Plant Operation & Maintenance Company, established a Business Division to operate as an LNG learning center and technical services provider in order to maintain its sustainability as a company. The Business Division faces new risks from the services on top of the current business risk from LNG Plant operation that will require risk treatment. Business Division operates by using shared resources from LNG plant operation and need to prevent losses from exposure of new business risk from its services both in LNG production and the business itself. In order to prevent or mitigate losses from business risk, it is necessary to perform risk assessment to the Business Division as an LNG learning center and Technical service provider. The risk assessment covers three activities from the Business Division namely LNG training, technical and Operation-Maintenance services which have different service characteristics and risk levels. The risk assessment process is based on ISO 31000: 2009. External context is developed using Porter’s 5 forces and PESTLE analysis while internal context is developed by SWOT methodology. Risk analysis is performed using risk matrix and cash flow scenario analysis. According to the risk assessment result, there are 3 high level risk from external source that requires risk treatment.
