This is due to the risks that may arise should a mistake occur in the planning and in the implementation. Therefore, a tool is needed to support the decision making in its construction. <br /> <p align="justify">In this, report, a knowledge-based decision making tool has been designed that is to help evaluate the technical feasibility of a nuclear power plant (NPP). The technical feasibility here means that the NPP can be operated reliably, safely, and in accordance with the desired specifications. Among the significant consideration factors determining the technical performance are reliability factor, safety factor, operation easiness factor, and other important technical factors. Those factors are then detailed into the appropriate criteria and sub-criteria, and finally are further detailed into the related parameters for the purpose of evaluation. <br /> <p align="justify">The method used for the evaluation is by assigning weight. The weighing is done by conducting surveys and by discussing with several experts. The knowledge gathering for the design of the expert system is done by literature study and through discussion with several experts. The experts involved are from Center for Nuclear Energy Studies, National Nuclear Energy Agency. <br /> <p align="justify">The expert system program has been made by using Delphi 3.0 software and a PC hardware with Intel Pentium microprocessor - 133Hz, 32 MB RAM, 1.2 GB hard-disk capacity. <br /> <p align="justify">The recommendation given by the expert system is in the form of technical feasibility level of the evaluated NPP and some suggestion to increase the performance. The recommendation given by this program is not absolute; however, the program can be used as a tool in evaluating the feasibility of a nuclear power plant especially from the technical aspect. <br /> <br /> text |
