Summary: | The determination of the depth value in a hydrographic survey will always be referenced to a particular reference value (i.e chart datum). One main component to obtain this depth value is tidal correction, it is needed due to spatial-temporal variations in sea level arising from the attraction of the moon and the sun. In general, the tide correction assessment is obtained by the conventional method by observing tidal readings, but the conventional method will be difficult to carry out hydrographic surveys conducted in offshore areas. Through the development of Global Satellite Navigation System technology, the utilization of this technology has begun to use alternative methods to obtain the value of tidal corrections using the RTPPP-Tide (Real Time Precise Point Positioning Tide) method.
Tidal correction values are acquired by doing field data accuisition at Patimban Port, Subang. Based on the results of the study, root-mean-square-error (RMSE) values are obtained by comparing tidal correction values, visualization of depth contours and 3D models using both of tidal correction values, and the difference in measurement values between the two methods used. While the RMSE values obtained vary in each sounding lane, with an overall RMSE value of 0.110 meters for the RTPPP-Tide method before the regression process and 0.097 meters for the RTPPP-Tide method that has undergone a regression. The difference in tide correction values between the two methods is due to several factors such as the effect of translation and ship displacement, and the effect of measurement error. |
