Summary:Just like all forms of art, the art of dance has been a form of human expression. The art of dance itself comes in many forms of genres, such as ballet, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, etc. As some dance forms are composed for grace and beauty, emphasizing the harmony between music and the form of the human body, some dances cater to more theatrical performances, designed to tell a story, or pass on some kind of message to the audience. Indonesian traditional dance, or folk dance, represents an idea passed down for generations. In Indonesia, as a nation of rich cultural diversity is home to an abundant form of traditional dances. Each representing a tribe or community in which they are formed, with colorful costumes, unique moves, and rich history and message within them. Although, in the nature of traditional dances, it's existence relies heavily on the participation of the next generation, which now falls in the hands of the Generation Z or Gen Z. As digital Natives, the Gen Z tends to relies most on digital media to satiate their social needs, gain information, and stay entertained. On the psychological side, as adolescences the Gen Z is currently in the process self-discovery and in a way to forming their identities. As traditional folk dance also represents the identity of the community or tribe which they originate form. Adapting the art of dance into a media more familiar to the Gen Z, a mobile fighting game character, they will be able to relate and identify as these characters, and in time, be keener on including their cultural heritage into their own identities.
