In the past decade, mental health service facilities have become one of the topics that have received serious attention from the public and health institutions all over the world, including in Indonesia. There are various forms and methods of mental health services. One method that is currently developing and is considered important in the world of psychotherapy is art therapy.Several studies of art therapy settings have reported that art therapy is flexible and can serve anybody in any settings and places. Thus the practitioner of art therapy can explore the vast possibilities of their desired settings. This study aims to review the interior settings of art therapy facilities in Bandung City (case study: Bright Beginnings Developmental Center psychotherapy clinic) and develop design recommendations that can optimize the therapeutic process of art therapy. The research will be conducted using literature review, non-participant observation in the field, and interviews with three senior therapists to gain their perspective of the ideal art therapy settings. Through this research, it was found that art therapy facilities in Bandung have not met the proper interior space requirements. Therefore, interior design criteria for art therapy facilities are conducted and divided into four categories according to the Supportive Healing Environment theory: social support enhancement, connection with nature, design features, and complexity & coherence. text |
