Summary:The concept of sustainable development in urban areas is a new paradigm in the settlement caused by urbanization activities. The principle of sustainable urban development is based on environmental, economic, and social aspect. The maintenance and protection of green open space (RTH) aims to maintain the quality of the urban environment, is an approach in achieving sustainable urban areas. The management of green open space is needed to achieve the quality of green space that can provide functions and benefits to the urban environment. The principle of Green Infrastructure Planning is the development of the current study of green open space management to protect and develop green space elements. Green Infrastructure planning principles consist of Integration, Connectivity, Multifunction, and Multi-scale. This principle is achieved by an approach to the public policy regarding the planning or development of urban green space. This study aims to develop a strategy for green open space management in achieving sustainable urban development in Mangupra Urban Area, Badung Regency, Bali. The scope of this research is the public green open space in the study area. The green space management strategy is formulated based on the basic aspect of green space management and strategic plan of green space in accordance with the Green Infrastructure planning principles. The basic aspect of green open space management is legal/ political product, strategic view, funding support, workforce skills, management understanding, and the involvement of community. All aspect of the green open space management is identified through interviews with local authorities in Badung Regency. A strategic plan on green open space management is identified through the analysis of the suitability of policy documents that have relevance to the development of green open space in the study area against the principles of Green Infrastructure Planning. The strategy is formulated with SWOT analysis based on the results of internal and external factors in the management aspects and the suitability of the policy direction towards the Green Infrastructure Planning Principles. The priority alternative strategies produced by the SWOT analysis are formulated through the QSPM matrix. The formulated strategy aims to exploit the current potential of greeniv space and as a solution to the management problems faced by local authorities of Badung Regency. The outline findings in this study area show the basic aspects of green open space management in the study area are still had a problem in the planning and development of green space. The policy direction in the study area not consideration yet of comprehensive green space management. The result of an alternative strategy in achieving green open space management is to realize a strategic plan for green open space planning and management as a guide for comprehensive green open space management. The policy directions and strategic plans produced refer to the development of green space that adjusts with the principles of green infrastructure planning.
