Description
Summary:The problem raised for this thesis research is the imbalance of PT. Pindad Persero, where the work station time has an unbalanced value. In addition, the bodyhull production capacity of PT. Pindad Persero is also unable to meet the annual production targets that have been set. This can be seen from the cycle time that has a value far above the available takt time. The available takt time is 2400 minutes while the cycle time of the existing condition production line is 5838 minutes at the upper body station. The methodology used in this study was divided into 6 stages, namely identifying problems, studying previous research, collecting data, analyzing existing conditions, designing proposed improvements, evaluating solutions. The method used to design solutions is a standard method of line balancing which is a mathematical analytical model and is considered capable of solving and in accordance with the needs of the problems of the special vehicle division of PT. Pindad Persero. The use of line balancing methods has succeeded in making assembly lines more balanced. This is indicated by the calculated cycle time value of 2790 minutes from the existing cycle time of 5838 minutes. In addition, a more balanced assembly line can also be seen from the line efficiency which increased from the existing condition of 0.41748 to 0.87357 after repairing the line balancing. However, the balanced assembly line has not been able to meet the takt time target of PT. Pindad Persero which is 2400 minutes. So that the target of PT Pindad Persero can be fulfilled, an alternative solution is chosen using the AHP method with 3 available solutions, while the chosen solution is to add permanent working hours by 78 minutes.
