One area which is trying to develop its tourism potensial to increase its regional and community income is Bantul Regency, DIY with its Parangtritis tourist resort. The increase of tourist number and income takes place also in Parangtritis tourist resort aspecially from domectis tourists. According to the space system or order of Yogyakarta Special Regional Province, the function and role of Bantul Regency has been fixed as supporting and strengthening Yogyakarta\'s role as one of tourist destination resorts. The development of Parangtritis tourism are able to give economical contributions to the local goverment and local community.<p align=\"justify\"> <br />
The objective of this research is to be familiar with the development of Parangtritis tourism, tourist charactheristic, the role for local economic and local community, and direction of tourism development in Parangtritis. The research has been conducted based on field survey using questionairs by direct interviews to respondents and secundair data.<p align=\"justify\"> <br />
A research result indicated that the main market of Parangtritis tourism comes from Central Java Province. Most of the respondent aged between 20 to 35. Their basic education, 57% at least SMTA graduated and 47% respondents have monthly income less then Rp. 300.000,-, those belong to the middle and lower income group. Based on travelling pattern, most of the respondents (54%) use their own cars and 23% use public transports. Based on travelling companion, 35% respondents take travel with friends and 23 % take travel with their families. Based on duration of stay, about 90% respondents are unlodge, 70% have motivation to take recreation and 24% to visit a sacreed place.<p align=\"justify\"> <br />
The role of Parangtritis tourism for the local goverment and local community are as follows. <br />
1. In 1995 gave income to the local goverment Rp. 945,341,800,- with average annually growth about 24.6%. Parangtritis tourism has potensial as source of income for the Local Goverment of Bantul Regency. <br />
2. Open the opportunities to make business formally and informally both for the local community and people from out side Parangtritis village. The business oppourtunities, among other things are business in lodging, restourant, lodging and restourant, sundry shop, souvenir shop, tourist transportation business (wheeled carriage & horse), photography service and peddlers (food, drinks and souvenirs, etc.). <br />
3. Open working oppourtunities in tourism field formally and informally. Seeing their origins, most owners of the tourism service business are Parangtritis village inhabitant. A formed tourism service business can accomodate local labours, their jobs as helpers in various field of business. From all labours 56.7% are inhabitant out side of Parangtritis and 43.3% are inhabitant of Parangtritis. <br />
4. Some of respondents the owners of formal tourism service business expressed their stable earnings, 32.2% respondents expressed their increase in earnings and 30.9% respondents expressed their decreasing of earnings.<p align=\"justify\"> <br />
To increase the benefit of tourism economic for the Local Goverment and local community, and to increase people\'s participants in tourism development. Parangtritis developmental directives are as follows: 1. Development of a kind of tourist object and attrction; 2. Development of parking area; 3. Building restructuring; 4. Rising the effort of information and promotion; 5. Policy to benefit local labours; 6. Making to local community and businessman or sellers; 7. Development of facilities and infrastructure. |
