Motorcycle is the type of vehicle with the most number in Indonesia, with 113 million units and in 2018 around 84,6% is automatic scooter type. If seen from the image shown in the communication material of motorcycle in Indonesia and based on discussion with motorcycle designer, currently all the motorcycle design in general and scooter design in particular only following the orientation of male riders and less of female riders, and there is no specific motorcycle design intended for female. Whereas with the gender differences between male and female allows for differences in visual perception on motorcycle design. Knowledge of gender differences is important for designer, to develop effective product design for the users, which in this case is Indonesian female riders. In order to obtain a thorough understanding, it is necessary to do a study on evaluation by female riders on the shape of scooter design in Indonesia and then identifying the most interesting shape for them. Descriptive analysis conducted on quantitative data obtained through a survey using a questionnaire to 150 female riders who evaluated 6 design of motorcycle, give an overview the design provides pleasurability in accordance with the female gender characteristic such as communal orientation and high empathy or emotional value. However, the design in Indonesia only provides perception on three pleasurability and do not yet have a significant perception for all pleasurability factors. From the factor analysis, it is described the pleasurability factors different perception for each design. The size, type, and character shape as well as the details of the shape from the scooter design are the things that will affect the perception of the female rider and may provide a different perception of pleasurability evaluation from the female riders. text |
