Optimization of tea tree oil nanoemulsion formulation was done by using surfactans (Tween 80, Cremophor RH 40), co-surfactans (PEG 400, glycerin), and water. Nanoemulsion was prepared using sonication method. Nanoemulsion tea tree oil was optimally done by using Tween 80 15% (b/b), Glycerin 10% (b/b), tea tree oil 5% (b/b), dan water 70% (b/b). The nanoemulsion had clear and light yellow appearance with distinctive smell of tea tree oil; globular size was 22,8 ± 5,26 nm; polydispersity index was 0,31 ± 0,08; and pH 5,4. The tea tree oil nanoemulsion showed a stable physical appearance over 21 days weeks of storage at low temperature (4°C), room temperature (25°C), high temperature (40°C), and cycling test. text |
