Summary:<b>Abstract:<p align=\"justify\"> <br /> Data extraction tool is the topic of this thesis. Functinal decomposition of an extraction tool is performed in order to gather all functional requirements which should be done by an extraction tools. This decomposition produces data scheme gathering, data transformation, work order, execution management and user administration functionality. Upon the analysis stage, data scheme gathering functionality is handled by transaction, data transformation handled by script, work order handled by both script-manager and script and execution management handled by script-manager.<p align=\"justify\"> <br /> There are three steps involved in extraction process : preparation, execution and reporting. During preparation, transaction, script-manager and script configuration is identified and configured. Execution performs extraction execution based on configuration from preparation stage. Execution status is viewed in reporting activity.<p align=\"justify\"> <br /> Object oriented methodolody using OMT notation is used for software development. Software developed and implemented on Windows 95 operating system. Database access is performed through ODBC interface.<p align=\"justify\"> <br /> The software prototype produced has integrated development phase with execution management and also provided support for maintenance. Implementation for the real world need further improvenents, mainly in some areas like execution optimization, database specific format handling and software reliability. <br />
