Disaster risk reduction learning in elementary schools helps students play an important role in saving themselves in times of disaster. This effort is a form of schoolbased preparedness that is currently also being carried out at public elementary schools in the city of Banda Aceh. This study aims to identify the condition of schoolbased disaster preparedness in public elementary schools in the city of Banda Aceh. This research was conducted with qualitative methods with descriptive analysis and content analysis to see the condition of school-based disaster preparedness in terms of safe school facilities, disaster management in schools, as well as education on disaster prevention and risk reduction. Based on the results of the analysis it was found that schools were not yet safe enough from the earthquake and tsunami natural disasters that could occur at any time in the future. This condition is due to the fact that schools are still not fully independent in managing disasters in schools due to external factors such as government participation that does not further monitor the progress of school preparedness and funding. So there is a need to strengthen school institutions that proactively run disaster preparedness in schools.
