The architectural style and shape of old / historic buildings can show the development of society and its relationship with culture and environment in a city. Bandung is a city full of history which can be seen from many old / historic buildings in various corners of the city. The City of Bandung Cultural Heritage Expert Team in 2018 stated that there were 1770 buildings categorized as cultural heritage buildings. One area that has many cultural heritage buildings in the city of Bandung is the Ciumbuleuit area. Ciumbuleuit area has residential buildings in the form of villas with a unique blend of European and eastern Indian styles so as to give characteristics to the area and is part of the aesthetics of Bandung. However, current conditions show changes both in terms of physical function and shape due to the development and growth of economic activity and land demand in the region. This condition will threaten the authenticity of the characteristics of the building as a cultural preservation. Enforcement of rules regarding the use of cultural heritage is needed to preserve it. Guidelines for preservation of cultural heritage buildings are the first step needed to ensure enforcement of these rules. To compile these guidelines requires the formulation of criteria, components, and principles of preservation of cultural heritage buildings. From these three conditions the conditions and issues of preservation of cultural heritage buildings in the Ciumbuleuit Region can also be analyzed. In the end, the formulation of criteria, concepts, and principles as well as a review of these conditions and problems can produce guidelines for the preservation of cultural heritage buildings for the Ciumbuleuit Area.
