As an effort to take advantage of Indonesia’s strategic location, Indonesia aims to become the world’s maritime axis country by optimizing the role of marine infrastructure development. Kuala Tanjung Seaport development as one of The National Strategic Projects that is prioritized for development is expected to have an impact on the regional economic growth especially in Batubara Regency of North Sumatera Province and expected to be the economic growth pole in the western region of Indonesia widely. However, the expectation may not be fulfilled because in general port activities are not able to provide equal economic impacts to various economic industries and regions. Although the economic growth is achieved, there must be an increase in competition for economic activity and competition between locals labors and foreigners from other regions. Through the seaport development theories, the economic growth theories and the influences of both, this research was conducted to explore the impact of Kuala Tanjung Seaport development for Batubara Regency’s economy. Through literature review and secondary data collection, this research explain trough the contribution analysis, intersectoral analysis and spreading potency and also the impact analysis can be concluded if seaport industry has a small role and influence on various industries in Batubara Regency’s economy. However, based on the impact simulation calculation of Kuala Tanjung Seaport development it was found that Kuala Tanjung Seaport development had a large impact on various economic industries growth through the output production and employment growth. Therefore, through this research can be explained that the Kuala Tanjung Seaport development has a large impact on various economic industries activities that can increase the Batubara Regency’s economic growth on the macro level.
