Being a tropical country in the middle of the equator makes it a gift for Indonesia, as it makes biodiversity in this country very diverse in all regions in Indonesia, mountain & forest terrain is one of them. This also creates a lot of outdoor activities in Indonesia, which are quite loved, starting from research, conservation, SAR, to the nature contemplation for outdoor enthusiasts. Land navigation is one of the many skills that are highly needed in activities in mountain-forests, making it one of the mandatory sciences that must be owned & used when doing outdoor activities. However, in the implementation of land navigation education, there is a gap in understanding of topography between the understanding of land navigation theory, and how students of land navigation articulate the understanding of topographic maps into three-dimensional form. It is hoped that this research can solve this problem.
