The boundaries manifested within one’s self may become the emotional trap over the years rather than being the one personal safe space. Growing up within constant-changing environment caused the shifting of how she perceives the personal boundaries creating the crippling tension within. Through the use of drawing as medium, writer aims to convey how she perceives the personal boundaries created under the mere shadow of repressed emotions. Boundaries : A Breaking Point of Muted Ruins is a work about the process of breaking emotional boundaries by projecting the repressed emotions throughout two phases ; acknowledgment and facing up to the boundaries. Acknowledgement of boundaries is represented by using beige tiles as one object that resembles home- the place where the boundaries are often constructed by process of assimilation. Facing up to the boundaries is represented by the use of smeared ink and the act of ruining the tiles as the gesture of mark making and the projection of emotions. The work is presented in the form of 7 deteriorated tiles walls. For writer to hope that this work can be a way for the audience to embrace the grief, the crippling fear, and the resistance that arise when intimidating self-boundaries clash with one another as a reminder of our capacity to contain and create a safe space within ourselves.
