Veesit Technology, is a startup that is running by college students in a growing stage. This startup is facing a cruicial problem that affects their job description accomplishment, their company monthly target, and probably could threaten their sustainability. The main problem of the company is they were experiencing demotivation while working at their startup. This can be proven by evaluating their performance in the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) target. Meanwhile, the development of the IoT was exponential in terms of market volume and number of companies and individual adopters, (Lee, as of 2019). In the face of global and digital competition, each person or group within a business or organization is expected to have good skills, so that they can succeed and excell in the increasingly difficult competition. (Ruutu, 2016 et al.) To defeat with the competition, just like Veesit Technology, college students startup have their own unique and specific challenges to be better than their competitors, including the “demotivation problem” that almost employees in a startup have ever experienced. Meanwhile, according to (Aghayeva & Slusarczyk, 2019), demotivation gives a very bad influence for employees and even for the company sustainability because it can increase employee turnover rate. However, (Inuwa, 2016) mentioned that on the other hand, motivation factors improves workplace engagement by making the work more meaningful and interesting, as well as by making the workers more successful and increasing their subsequent job performance. He also mentioned that motivational factors perhaps have the ability to improve the negative effects of demotivation to create a better employee performance. In this research, the author is focused on college student startup to determine the highest demotivation factor and the highest motivation factor that affects to employee performance. The researcher gathers the data from 93 college students who work at a startup through online questionnaires and analyzes data to determine a range of statistical and concise findings. In this research, the author has employee demotivation and employee motivation as the independent variables. In demotivation factors, the author has three independent variables (X1, X2, X3) and in motivational factors, the author has five independent variables (X4, X5, X6, X7, X8). The list of variables orderly from X1 to X8 are: “Incompetent Team”, “Organization Workload”, “Organization Culture”, “Recognition from Team”, “Teamwork and Strong Spirit”, “Chance to Develop Performance”, “Evaluation and Feedback”, and “Performance based Reward and Punishment”. The author is using employee performance as dependent variable (Y1). Microsoft Excel and SPSS statistics have been used to evaluate data and to identify the highest motivation and highest motivation factors that affect employee performance. To evaluate independent and dependent relationships, and the researchers' relationship between independents will use Multiple Linear Regression (MLR), researchers will use descriptive statistical analysis for independent aspects. After all, this has been 3 developed, in particular in the startup of college students, the goal is to find the greatest factor that can potencially increase employee efficiency and improve the startup. text |
