<b>Abstract:<p align=\"justify\"> <br /> Indonesia has experienced crises which is marked by the depreciation of the rupiah, budget deficit and decrease in international trust. Such development has given rise to the demand for reformation and the need for a new paradigm in term of democracy, justice, transparency, and community empowerment. Reformation and empowerment of the state owned companies (BUMN) which manage the national and natural resources are needed. The state owned companies haven\'t provided their significant contributions to the national income. In fact, these companies are not as efficient as private companies and are slow to react to changes.<p align=\"justify\"> <br /> PT. Aneka Tambang, one of the state-owned mining companies has since November 1997, become a public company 1997 with a new shareholder composition : 65% state and 35% (430,769,000 shares) public, 11% of which is foreign owned. The consequence of such transformation requires adjustment in the company\'s statutes and management. The accumulated fund was Rp. 561.70 billion and used for the company\'s expansion.<p align=\"justify\"> <br /> This study evaluates PT. Aneka Tambang privatization. The evaluation methodology is comprehensive and integrated covering all relevant aspects so as to achieve maximum benefits for public prosperity in accordance with the State Constitution; such being the basis of national interest which encompasses that of private companies and other development sectors such as national income, environment, human resource empowerment and other social concerns.<p align=\"justify\"> <br /> The evaluation results show that PT Aneka Tambang has been successful in its privatization with a profit of Rp. 319,60 billion in 1998 compared to Rp.16.50 billion in 1994 (equivalent to Rp 49.37 billion of 1998) ; national income contribution of Rp. 268.92 billion in 1998 compared to Rp. 49.77 billion in 1994 (equivalent to Rp. 104.19 billion of 1998) ; and social contribution concerns decreased from Rp. 4.319 billion in 1994 (equivalent to 9.821 billion of 1998) to Rp. 5.85 billion in 1998.
