Magnetite mineral is one of the materials that can be utilized, one of which is in the form of submicron particles as drug delivery constituents to address the increase of cancer disease which is known to be fatal. In this study, the magnetite obtained from Lampung was prepared into submicron particles by milling using Shaker Mill. A series of magnetite milling experiments with Shaker Mill have been carried out to study the effect of milling duration and milling ball material on the milled magnetite crystallinity, size, and magnetism. The milling durations used in each experiment are 2, 4, 8 and 16 hours. Meanwhile, balls material used are alumina, steel, and zirconia. The samples were then analyzed by using X-Ray Diffractometer (XRD) to determine crystallinity, Particle Size Analyzer (PSA) to determine particle size, Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) to determine magnetism, and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) to observe the micro appearance of magnetite. The results showed that magnetite particles crystallinity was reduced. Milling for 16 hours reduced the peak intensity from 264 cps to 58 cps at the diffraction angle of 30.36o, 1056 cps to 262 cps at 35.74o, and 1056 cps to 262 cps at 62.76o. In addition, milling with zirconia balls further reduced the crystallinity of magnetite rather than alumina and steel. The most highest amount of submicron size was 10.58% obtained by 16 hours of milling using zirconia balls. The longer milling time would result in the decrease of its magnetic properties. Milling for 16 hours resulted in a change of the saturation magnetic moment from 42.79 Am2/kg to 5.68 Am2/kg, remanence from 6.27 Am2/kg to 0.74 Am2/kg, and coercivity from 0.01626 T to 0.016529 T text |

Indonesia is one of the countries in the world that has abundant mineral resources.
Iron mineral is one of the natural commodities adequately available in Indonesia,
but the consumption capacity of the iron and steel industry for iron mineral in
Indonesia is still small. Recently, the industry is shifting to develop molecular
manufacturing. Molecular manufacturing process produces useful products for
human life. Magnetite mineral is one of the materials that can be utilized, one of
which is in the form of submicron particles as drug delivery constituents to address
the increase of cancer disease which is known to be fatal. In this study, the
magnetite obtained from Lampung was prepared into submicron particles by
milling using Shaker Mill.
A series of magnetite milling experiments with Shaker Mill have been carried out
to study the effect of milling duration and milling ball material on the milled
magnetite crystallinity, size, and magnetism. The milling durations used in each
experiment are 2, 4, 8 and 16 hours. Meanwhile, balls material used are alumina,
steel, and zirconia. The samples were then analyzed by using X-Ray Diffractometer
(XRD) to determine crystallinity, Particle Size Analyzer (PSA) to determine
particle size, Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) to determine magnetism, and
Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) to observe the micro appearance of
magnetite.
The results showed that magnetite particles crystallinity was reduced. Milling for
16 hours reduced the peak intensity from 264 cps to 58 cps at the diffraction angle
of 30.36o, 1056 cps to 262 cps at 35.74o, and 1056 cps to 262 cps at 62.76o. In
addition, milling with zirconia balls further reduced the crystallinity of magnetite
rather than alumina and steel. The most highest amount of submicron size was
10.58% obtained by 16 hours of milling using zirconia balls. The longer milling
time would result in the decrease of its magnetic properties. Milling for 16 hours
