ANALYSIS OF INFECTIOUS DISEASE TRANSMISSION USING RANDOM WALK ON GRANULAR PARTICLE AS AN AGENT-BASED MODEL

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/49145 The outbreak of infectious disease is a major problem that haunts human civilization from milenia to milenia. In carrying out an outbreak, humans not only need effective treatment and vaccination. Even though an outbreak is relatively non-lethal, if it could spread in relatively rapid time, it could create a mass panic that results in disruption of the social, political, and economic stability of an area. The health care system also could be disrupted if large numbers of patients are coming in a short time. The growth of outbreaks that are naturally exponential will be very effectively suppressed if any pieces of information related to the outbreak are known as early as possible. Therefore information with high resolution related to how an outbreak could spread will be very helpful in preventing or mitigating the outbreak of a pathogen. In this final project, an agent-based model simulation that generally has a higher resolution than models with other frameworks will be used to describe how an outbreak can spread. This model is built based on random walks of the granular particle system. Random walk is a stochastic process that is commonly used in describing the movements of an organism mathematically, including in modeling human movements or mobility which greatly influences how an outbreak can spread. text
