Decoctions of bungur leaves traditionally used to treat bladder stones, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Seeds of this plant can be used to treat high blood pressure and diabetes, while the bark were used to treat diarrhea, dysentriae and blood in the urine. Bungur leaves was known contain saponins, flavonoids and tannins, while the bungur bark contains flavonoids and tannins. But, the research about chemical compound were limited. The aim of this research was isolated, characterized and identified a flavonoid compound from Lagerstroemia speciosa leaves. Extration was done using reflux method with increasing polarity solvent (n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol). The extract of ethyl acetate of bungur leaves (Lagerstroemia speciosa Pers.) qualitatively showed flavonoid compound was than separated using coloum chromatography with gradient elution from nhexane-ethyl acetate-methanol, were than purified by using preparative thin layer chromatography. Compound X has been isolated was then charaterized using spesific reagents, spectroscopy UV-Vis with shifting reagents. Based on UV- Visible spectrum, compound X showed ?max at 361 and 272 nm. Shifting reagents (NaOH, borate and aluminium chloride) were shifted and estimated as 5, 3’, 4’ trihydroxy flavonol. text
