Summary: | Bulky waste is a type of waste that is too large to be handled or transported with regular waste collection and has a mass of more than 25 kg. In general, bulky waste is a large waste in terms of mass or volume. Bulky waste collection program in Bandung is the first program carried out by local governments in Indonesia. Bandung Sanitation Agency (PD Kebersihan) has conducted a program to collect bulky waste in 7 polling stations since January, 2018. This program was motivated by the habit of people who throw bulky waste into the river flow. Bulky waste in Bandung is dominated by furniture waste and waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). The bulky waste recycling facility will be built on the former Leuwigajah landfill with an area of 1.9 ha. The total mass of bulky waste to be processed at the recycling facility is 72.87 tons/day with a volume of 1548.83 m3/day. The composition of bulky waste materials to be processed are divided into 5 types: wood, metal, plastic, ceramic and textile materials for non-WEEE bulky waste. Meanwhile, WEEE bulky wastes are divided into steel, non-iron, glass, plastic, and electronic components. Materials that can be recycled are metal, wood and plastic. Bulky waste recycling facilities are divided into zones: initial acceptance zone zone, processing zone, and storage zone. |
