Description
Summary:Kota Tua Jakarta is a Cultural Heritage Area which is one of Indonesia’s tourist destinations. This area has the characteristics of Dutch Colonial Architecture. Fatahilah Square is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Kota Tua Jakarta. However, the Kota Tua tourist area is only concentrated in the Fatahilah Square area. Even though there are other areas in Kota Tua that can be developed as tourist areas. In conclusion, the existence of the Museum of Traditional and Contemporary Cultural Art is to answer this problem. This museum is a project located in Kota Tua Jakarta, precisely on Jalan Kemukus and Lada Dalam. The project with a land area of 9297.65m2 is a fictitious project initiated by the Jakarta City Culture and Tourism Office. The proposed location was intentionally outside the Fatahilah Square Complex and adjacent to Bank BNI, Kantor Kecamatan Taman Sari, and the Ciliwung River. The purpose of designing this project is to increase public knowledge of traditional and contemporary culture and arts in Indonesia and to change the paradigm associated with boring museums and museum only as a place for exhibiting objects. The functions presented in this project include exhibition space, performance space, cafeteria, café, and public open space. The concept of this museum is permeability that can connect one area to another areas. The museum is designed with many public open spaces that are accessible for pedestrians. It is also designed with a universal design that friendly for all people. The idea of the appearance is from a combination of traditional and contemporary art that created a modern form so that is expected to become a new landmark in Kota Tua Jakarta. The project is expected to attract visitors to increase tourism value and encourage activists of the Indonesian art community to interact and collaborate in producing works through this museum.
