Description
Summary:Indonesia is the largest archipelagic country in the world, consisting of five large islands and thousands of small islands in it, however until now the equitable distribution of development and improvement of the community's economy is still not optimal, especially small islands scattered throughout Indonesia. The development of the potential of small islands has not been maximized due to transportation facilities and infrastructure as a link between the main area and the island is not sufficient, so it is necessary to have a connecting system that can encourage and increase the potential of these small islands. In this research proposal, the writer designed a connecting system between the main area of Makassar City and the small islands around it which are commonly called the Sangkarrang Archipelago in form of a tourism crossing terminal. The crossing terminal acts as a liaison and center for the movement of people and goods, as well as the dissemination of information media related to the potential of the Sangkarrang Archipelago. The design of this terminal will apply the technique of transforming cultural values as an identity. This terminal is oriented towards users with a nomadic tourist character who visit many small islands around Makassar City to make short trip island tourism activities, the optimization of this crossing terminal is expected to encourage improvement economy of the people of the Sangkarrang Islands and can be a pilot for the development of small islands in Indonesia.
