Zinc-air batteries can be a solution to this goal. One of the main components of the battery is the electrocatalyst, which commonly based on platinum. Platinum is a rare and expensive material. Therefore, this study was conducted to make a carbon-based electrocatalyst from biomass. Biomass such as red bean shell is always treated as waste. By treating the waste, a carbon-based electrocatalyst can be made. In addition, the performance of the electrocatalyst can be enhanced by adding a transition metal alloy (Co, Fe, Ni) to the electrocatalyst. The test results of the Zn-air battery using specimens from red bean shells and FeCo alloys have good results. From the test, it was adjusted that the manufacture of an electrocatalyst made from red bean skin can be made and added to the CoFe alloy to improve the electrocatalyst performance. Again, the peak power density of the carbon to which the alloy is added is a value of 143.66 mW cm-2. The good performance shows that the Zn-air battery in this study has the potential to be developed and mass-produced. text
