ENGAGING RESTORATIVE PUBLIC REALM : SOEKARNO HATTA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT LEISURE HUB

Soekarno Hatta International Airport (SHIA) is the first Indonesian International Airport which is located on Tangerang City and become the aerotropolis development pilot project. This airport is not only use for air trnasportation mode, its also have a function variety such as office district, logistic, to recreation like golf club. In 2025, SHIA predicted not able to accomodate the surge of passangers which reaching around 110 million PAX, so they will develop the airport like adding runway path and terminal building. The rapid development also has an impact on the movement from the city so that it is now integrated with mass transportation modes. This potential can be utilized to provide facilities that can meet the needs and the pamper of passengers in different ways, namely by providing a leisure hub. Leisure hub is a facility that will integrate the shopping district, recreation activity, and the needs of passanger (aviation facility). By using strategic residual land with the area around 48.136 m2 beside profitable for airport development this project is expected to provide ease of accessibility and movement for airport passanger. The facility is designed by considering several aspects such as, the internal movement of the airport, the condition of prospective users, and the characteristics of the airport area. The main target users are airport passengers both departures, arrivals, and transits so that they can fill their free time from boredom both waiting and traveling. The results of the design are expected to provide a pleasant restorative effect for users and reach the optimum point of commercialization so that it benefits all parties that have been planned.
