Summary: | The increase of electricity usage by public or industry in Indonesia has been accompanied with the increase of electricity cost and enviromental effect due to the utilization of fossil fuel which supplied more than 85% of national power plant capacity. A strategy to decrease electricity usage has been manifested with the emerging electricity usage monitoring systems which were claimed can reduce electricity extravagance by up to 12%. However, the monitoring systems available are still limited in information access, data storing time, information detail, and data visualization.
In this research, the researcher designed a database and web interface system of electricity usage monitoring module. The system was designed to be able to store long term data and allow the users to monitor electricity usage based on the time desired. The electricity usage data are visualized into graphs. The graphs can be accessed via the module’s web to enable the users to access the data every time.
The designed system was success to store, process, and display electricity usage data via the module’s web in a local network. The databases only sized 732 kilobytes after storing a 125-hours monitoring data. The monitoring time could be adjusted based on minutes, hours, or date desired by the users. The data succeeded to be visualized into graphs and only took under two seconds in the module’s web.
