Summary:The increase in population and the development of the urban economy has changed changes in the consumption pattern of the people which have an impact on increasing the amount of waste generation. This often occurs in developing urban areas, one of which is Bandung. The Bandung City Government has responded with intervention efforts in the form of the “Kang Pisman” program, namely activities to reduce, separate, and utilize waste carried out independently by the community, especially at the household level. Community participation is the key to the successful implementation of this program. This study aims to identify factors related to community participation in the implementation of the Kang Pisman program. Kelurahan Sukamiskin was chosen as the study location because it was one of the pilot villages. Collecting data in this study using a questionnaire, interview, observation, and literature study. Descriptive analysis is used to identify forms of participation by the community. Meanwhile, association analysis is used to determine the relationship of factors that related to community participation. The results of the analysis show that the form of community participation in the study area is still waste sorting and waste utilization. Meanwhile, for the participation stage, the community participates at the implementation stage and at the stage of enjoying the results. The level of community participation in the planning stage is included at the manipulation level, while the implementation stage is at the informing level. In addition, the findings show that community participation is related to several aspects, namely socio-economy, community knowledge, facilities and infrastructure, and community perceptions. The results of this study can be used to increase understanding of all stakeholders and efforts to increase community participation in the implementation of the Kang Pisman program in other regions.
