The project was presented as ITB’s respond to issues such as necessity in having a library and study center, energy issue, and issue in campus image. A library and study center was then designed in a 4.327m2 site. The building was designed with parasol architecture concept and the process was approached with principals of net zero energy building and human-centered design. Building mass was made ‘L’ shape to respond axis pattern on campus, and it has three storeys with a ground floor that is open and connected with an inner court. Zoning, creation of rooms and functions, and building envelope design were made to fulfil user needs as well as making the building performs efficiently. Daylight simulation using Sefaira was done to decide lighting energy saving, and strategies in combining night-cooling and thermal mass material were decided to provide thermal comfort efficiently. The building was designed with reinforced concrete structure and enveloped with combination of brick walls and insulated sandwich panels. In overall, the project has fulfilled the total area permitted on site, which is 4.212m2 total floor area with 1.738m2 total ground floor area. text |
