kids‘ brain development, which makes storytelling become an important activity.
Majority of Indonesian parents already know the importance of storytelling, but still
hampered by some obstacles, one of it was their ability of storytelling. This research
is bound to make creation that can help parents in storytelling. One on alternatives
that can help parents when storytelling is storytelling media. Field data proofed that
storytelling media made a huge impact to the kids‘ enthusiasm to listening to the
story and at the same time also helps parents in storytelling process, despite that the
variety of storytelling medias that Indonesian parents known are limited.
Folktale of “Timun Mas“ is choosen based on the familiarity Indonesian parents
with the story, so they can recite the story without relying on storybooks, as it
hopefully can help increase the interaction between parents and kids. This research
also take data information from various media that adopted “Timun Mas“ that has
produced before. Data that has been gathered then processed to become a visual
design. This visual design form then translated into a creation. Creation contents
big fabric that adapted the story scenery and character dolls. The technique used in
this research is appliqué and hand embroidery, because both techniques can create
unique texture on the finished product that can be touched by the kids. The research
work result can help story telling process and increase interaction between parents
and their kids in the process. |
