The agricultural sector itself is included in the 4 biggest industries contributing to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), where from 2015-2018 the sector contributed as much as 13.23 percent, this is because Indonesia itself received bonus topography, soil structure and weather that strongly supports the agricultural business. At present PTPN VIII out of 113,958 Ha of land that has been given by the government, there is still 47,145.11 Ha that has not been productive in producing agricultural products, and it is alleged that PTPN VIII made efforts to utilize land resources by developing business towards the property business (hotels, apartments, houses) with the goal is that the land owned has added value and continues to provide benefits. However, this violates the rules in accordance with Law No. 39 of 2014 which requires that if the plantation business has been running for 6 years then 100 percent of the land must produce plantation products, where the property business is also not a core competence of PTPN VIII. The company's position itself is in a position that needs to do a retrenchment, therefore it is necessary to conduct an appropriate analysis of the company's strategy in overcoming internal problems. The purpose of this study is to provide a strategy that makes PTPN VIII able to compete with competing private companies and remain focused on its core competence, namely the plantation sector. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach using SWOT analysis, TOWS Matrix and Hexagonal Restructuring based on the company's internal and external conditions. This research will focus on providing recommendations for PTPN VIII to focus on the plantation business, and release assets that have nothing to do with plantations including hospitals owned by PTPN VIII namely PT Agro Medika Nusantara. This research can be used by future researchers to propose corporate strategies that can help increase revenue and improve performance in other company case studies. text |
