Description
Summary:The demand for zucchini (Cucurbita pepo) is increasing. This is because currently there are so many Japanese and Korean restaurants in Indonesia. But in reality, not many farmers grow zucchini because of its expensive production. Therefore, it requires proper cultivation techniques for farmers to still be able to plant zucchini. One of these cultivation techniques is fertilization using organic fertilizers. This study aims to determine the effect of using organic fertilizers on zucchini growth, zucchini biomass production, calculating the mass balance of zucchini farming and calculating the efficiency of input and output orientation. This research was conducted at the ITB Jatinangor screen house for 40 days. The design used was a completely randomized design with 4 treatments (soil, bokashi fertilizer, vermicompost fertilizer and coffee waste fertilizer). Each repetition contains 6 plants. Observation parameters include plant height, number of leaves, number of male flowers, number of female flowers, fruit weight, fruit length and fruit diameter and nutrient content contained in the mixture of soil and bokashi fertilizer; soil and vermicompost fertilizer; soil and coffee waste fertilizer. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the application of organic fertilizers (bokashi, vermicompost and coffee waste) had an effect on the growth of zucchini plants with the highest average in soil treatment mixed with vermicompost fertilizer. Meanwhile, organic fertilizers (bokashi, vermicompost and coffee waste) have no effect on biomass because female flowers die before producing fruit. Organic fertilizers (bokashi, vermicompost and coffee waste) provide maximum output. The application of organic fertilizers (bokashi, vermicompost and coffee waste can optimize the efficiency of zucchini farming.
