Description
Summary:Ridged gourd is an annual plant which the fruit is often consumed and has many benefits, especially for health, so it is widely popular and the demand for ridged gourd continues to increase. Along with the increasing of market demand, ridged gourd production also continues to increase, one of which is through improving cultivation techniques by applying fertilizers. The use of organic fertilizers has many benefits and can reduce environmental pollution. Coffee skin waste can be used as organic fertilizer through the composting process by black soldier fly larvae so that it is more environmentally friendly and can reduce costs. This research aims to compare severeal types of organic fertilizers that are able to provide the best results on growth and yielf of ridged gourd plants, calculate mass and energy balances, and determine the efficiency of using different types of media in ridged gourd farming. This research was conducted using a completely randomized design with 4 treatments (soil, bokashi fertilizer, vermicompost fertilizer, and coffee waste fertilizer), and 6 replications. The results of this research indicate that the use of organic fertilizers has an effect on the growth parameters and biomass parameters of ridged gourd. Vermicompost fertilizer gives the best results on the growth parameters of ridged gourd, which the average plant height is 140,35 cm, number of leaves is 26,64, number of male flowers is 19,07, and number of female flowers is 3,73. Bokashi and vermicompost fertilizer give the best results on the biomass parameters of ridged gourd, which produces 4 fruits, average fruit weight is 31,67 grams, average fruit length is 8,9 cm, and average fruit diameter is 10,01 mm. Based on the mass and energy balance analysis, it is obtained that the addition of bokashi fertilizer, vermicompost, and coffee waste did not encourage maximum results because the output result is smaller than the input. Based on the calculation of efficiency, the result shows that soil treatment has and efficiency value of 0,9, where the value is higher than the soil treatment + organic fertilizer.
