Description
Summary:Amphibious aircraft is a multi-function aircraft which can operate on land and on water. This type of aircraft helps transportation sector due to its ability reaching remote areas. Indonesia with the status of the largest archipelago in the world has difficulties in connecting remote areas. Land transportation and conventional aircraft difficult to reach remote areas due to lack of facility. Hence, it requires a small aircraft capable of operating on land or water with runways under 600 m. This study conducted a simulation and analysis of take-off Twin Otter DHC-6 400 with twin float. Several programs will be used to obtain data which are SolidWorks and DatCom. The simulation is done by adjusting the weight and thrust throttle. Weight variation is done by 4 times with maximum thrust constant, and maximum thrust variation is done by 4 times with weight constant. Simulation result will be analyzed and compared with similar aircraft. According to the simulation result, water take-off distance is further 299 m compared to water take-off from data reference Twin Otter DHC-6 400.
