Summary: | Information on the availability of a natural resource is needed to support continuity of life. The information regarding the amount of natural resource availability must be aligned with information about the number of natural resource needs in the region. This research will further discuss the aspects of water carrying capacity in Panggang Island, Pulau Panggang Village, Pulau Seribu Utara District, Kepulauan Seribu District, DKI Jakarta Province. Panggang Island is an island with a very dense population intensity on a very small island. Therefore, this study aims to determine the carrying capacity of fresh water on Panggang Island with the assumption that it only uses water quantity parameters. The method used for this research was the Thornthwaite Mather method for the process of calculating the water balance and the method of calculating water carrying capacity per administrative area to determine the carrying capacity of water on Panggang Island. The study was conducted on 3 (three) areas of the Rukun Warga (RW) in Panggang Island with secondary data collection techniques.
The results showed that the entire region of Panggang Island had uniform results related to the water carrying capacity index with very high water carrying capacity status. The highest index is owned by RW 03 with a carrying capacity index of 3.56. On the other hand, RW 02 has the lowest carrying capacity index of 2.20. This shows that the carrying capacity of water on Panggang Island is classified as very high in terms of quantity to meet the basic water needs of its population.
