Description
Summary:The exclusive economic zone is one of the jurisdictions of each country where each country has sovereign rights (not full sovereignty) in the zone, especially in the case of exploration and exploitation of natural resources. To maintain this sovereign right requires certainty regarding the exclusive economic zone boundaries between the countries concerned. There are several maritime boundaries between Indonesia and undefined neighboring countries, one of which is the boundary line of Indonesia's exclusive economic zone with Malaysia in the Malacca Strait. The determination of this boundary line is carried out using two principles that have been set out in UNCLOS III (1973-1982) since the two countries have ratified it. The two principles are the principle of equilibrium and the principle of proportionality, which in this study the principle of equivalence is used as an application of the principle of proportionality. The results of this study are two maps of exclusive economic zone boundaries obtained from the use of the principle of equivalent and the principle of equivalent.
