This compound is used as an antioxidant that can increase the stability of the products. Some researches show that BHA has a carcinogenic effect on the human body. Therefore, determination of BHA in food is important to do. One method that can be used for simultaneous determination of BHA is voltammetry. Oxidation of BHA using conventional bare electrodes gives relatively low current response. In this research, a voltammetric method using carbon paste electrode (CPE) modified with graphene and poly(glutamic acid) (MIP-G/CPE) was developed for BHA determination. The modification of CPE surface was carried out by electrodeposition of graphene followed by electropolymerization of glutamic acid from a 0.1 M phosphate buffer solution pH 7 containing glutamic acid and BHA. The effects of monomer and template concentrations, number of electropolymerization cycles, pH of the analyte solution, and scan rate was optimized. The measurement of BHA was performed using square wave voltammetry (SWV) technique in phosphate buffer solution as supporting electrolyte. Measurement of BHA using the modified carbon paste electrode (MIP- G/CPE) showed that the modification increased the sensitivity and selectivity of the measurements. The MIP-G/CPE had good repeatability and reproducibility with %RSD of 8.40% (n=40) and 2.46% (n=4). The MIP-G/CPE calibration curve provides a linear response in the concentration range of 5-100 ?M with detection limit of 4.475 ?M. The presence of butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) in solution did not interfere with BHA measurement. text |
