Description
Summary:The MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Conference, Exhibition) industry has a significant impact on economic growth in Indonesia. However, the fact is that the number of buildings that provide MICE activities is not yet proportional to the number of events and tourists, which continue to increase every year. For this reason, an idea for planning a Hotel & Convention Center emerged, which aims to support economic movement in the tourism sector. The project design is located on Kuningan Madya Street, Setiabudi Sub-district, South Jakarta City. The site has a total area of about 15,480 m2 . The problem in this project is how to integrate residential and convention functions while optimally fulfill the needs and functional requirements of both inside and outside the building. This problem is caused by a conflict between functions related to user comfort, level of privacy, and interaction between users. The next problem is how to embody the character of the Hotel and Convention Center building, which is unique on its site and can give character to the area. Based on the elaboration of these problems and issues, a creative design concept is formulated in which building design tends to be directed at optimization and aesthetic reasons. This building has a role in symbolizing the social importance of activities while still paying attention to the needs of each function in the building. In the design stage, this concept is applied in the process of composing the mass and facade of the building by optimizing the requirements for both functions and land use as well as harmonization between functions within and around the site.
