Description
Summary:The design project for the Islamic Center in Cibiru is a fictional project on Jalan Soekarno Hatta, Cipadung, Cibiru District, Bandung City. The main function that is accommodated in an area of 20,000 m2 is the activity of fostering and developing Islamic da'wah which also plays a role in increasing collaboration and developing creative da'wah from the millennial Islamic youth community in Bandung. This project was initiated by a non-profit foundation engaged in the socioreligious sector. The main users are muslim millennial youth in Bandung. The project is built in the context of a flood prone area, close to the area that will become the second city center, so the design needs to respond to future site conditions. The main problem that was responded to in the design was the increased collaboration of Islamic Center users in flood-prone sites. The design solution is the concept of "riung bernaung" (gathering shelter) which uses a tree analogy approach. The leaves of the tree are represented as the mass of the building being raised, and the trunk is represented as the column that supports the building. That way, the area under the mass of the building becomes a flexible space for collaboration, and is analogous to a shelter for gathering. To enhance collaboration, interaction spaces are placed at circulation meeting points. In addition, the mass is arranged centrally in the hall which is the main point of crossing the circulation between the masses. The concept of tree analogy with mass lifting also answers the problem of sites that are prone to flooding. From this concept, Creative Syiar Center design consists of 4 main masses which are grouped based on the proximity of their functions: mosque; multipurpose mass; community mass; and a mixed crowd of RAs, dormitories, and communities. The height of the mass is 1-4 floors. The capacity of the Creative Syiar Center mosque area can accommodate up to 1500 worshipers, and multipurpose room can accommodate up to 480 guests. In the site, there is also a retention pond in response to flooding. The representation of the building as a modern Islamic Center is shown by the presence of minaret and the use of algorithmically duplicated repetitive geometric patterns. For the structure, a dome structure is used in the mosque room, so that there are not many columns there.
