One effort to prevent this is through the formation of inclusion complexes with ?-cyclodextrin. Cyclodextrin is a compound that has a unique molecular structure with a relatively hydrophobic inside while the exterior is hydrophilic, so that it can form complexes with lipophilic drug compounds. The purpose of this study is to construct the diclofenac sodium-?-cyclodextrin inclusion complex and examine the effect of UV light on the stability of sodium diclofenac in the inclusion complex. The Inclusion complex were prepared by utilizing of kneading, coprecipitation, and freeze drying method. The phase solubility study results a linear diagram AL and molar ratio of diclofenac sodium-?-cyclodextrin inclusion complex was 1:1. The value of the equilibrium constant was found to be 175.385 M- 1 and the complexation efficiency was 0.734. The diclofenac sodium content on inclusion complex by kneading and coprecipitation method were 42.71% and 24.85%, and the yields were 50.07% and 27.70% respectively. While based on the literature the sodium diclofenac content obtained from the freeze drying method was 17.11% and the yield was 60%. The FTIR analysis showed interaction of sodium diclofenac with ?- cyclodextrin involving carbonyl group in sodium diclofenac. The XRD diffractogram of the inclusion complex prepared by freeze drying method exhibited an amorphous structure while if it made by kneading and coprecipitation methods have a crystalline structure. The SEM photomicrograph revealed that the morphology of the inclusion complex made by freeze drying method has a porous structure while the kneading and coprecipitation methods showed a compact structure. The diclofenac sodium inclusion complex with ?-cyclodextrin or its derivatives has proven to be effective in increasing photostability. text |
