Although the stadium district visited a lot, the old stadium building seems very distant to its people. It is usually closed and only used for match day or big events. Nowadays stadium design trend gives so much attention on the stadium use intensity. As a very massive building, if the stadium is only being used to hold sports events, and closed daily, it will be a waste. The Bima Stadium District has potency to adopt such trend, as it has many local activities to be provided in the stadium district. The design theme taken in this project is “Stadium as a Neighborhood”, means it must be inseparable of its neighbor and carry its inherent attributes, people and local community. The new stadium design will be a place for people and local community to play, interact, and do daily activities. There are three strategies to achieve such goals, that is integrated, inviting, and locality. Integrated means that the stadium district as a place to do sports and recreational activities, integrate with its people and local community. The new stadium design focus on daily activities for its neighborhood and local communities by providing its needs of space to do activities. The stadium itself consist of two level, with the ground floor mainly allocated for local community such as local club rooms and multifunctional rooms. Inviting can be done by providing variety of activity to gain people interest from all ages, gender, and ability, like designing buffer area with forest walk concept and bioswale garden concept, as a place for recreation. Other than that, the new stadium also provides a place for local commodities such a food stands designed in a row, creating a food festival, to attract more visitors. Meanwhile locality can be done by adopting local pattern of Batik Mega Mendung for its façade design. The main intention is to promotes the local cultures and brings associative values to its people. text
