Rosehip seed oil can be obtained through the cold-pressed method from the seeds of Rosa canina L. This oil has antioxidant activity that can be used to counteract ROS because it contains tocopherol, carotenoids, phenolics, and flavonoids (quercetin) that have function as an antiaging. This study aimed to develop the formulation and evaluate rosehip seed oil nanoemulsion. Optimization of nanoemulsion was carried out by using surfactants (Tween 80, Cremophor RH 40), cosurfactants (PEG 400, glycerin), preservatives (methyl and propyl parabens), propylene glycol, and distilled water. Nanoemulsion was evaluated through physical stability test, antioxidant activity, and anti-wrinkle activity test. The selected formulation of rosehip seed oil nanoemulsion was found consist of Tween 80 12%, Cremophor RH 40 4%, PEG 400 4%, rosehip seed oil 5%, propylene glycol 10%, methyl paraben 0.18%, and propyl paraben 0.02%. Nanoemulsion had a transparent and bright yellow appearance with characteristic odor. It was also had a specific gravity of 1.027, globule size at 218.4 ± 10.8 nm, and polydispersity index of 0.356 ± 0.028. Based on literature studies, formulation of quercetin nanoparticles can increase its ????ð?ð??ð?? ?±?»???????ã???????ã????Antioxidant test using DPPH method on quercetin nanoparticles gave IC50 at 4.24 ± 0.48 µg/mL. Quercetin nanoemulsion and microemulsion have no potential to cause irritation to the eyes and skin. Quercetin microemulsion can significantly reduce epidermal hyperproliferation and accumulation of abnormal elastic fibers in dermis induced by UVB. Quercetin nanoemulsion showed good physical stability at 4, 21, 37, and 40 o C for 3 months. text |
