<b>Abstract :</b><p align="justify"> <br /> <br /> The use of drugs in internal and pediatric in-patients for renal and heart disease-patients at RSUP dr. Hasan Sadikin had been studied concurrently from August to October 1999. The study of appropriateness of the drug use was based on the predetermined criteria. Result showed that most of patients had experienced more than one diagnosis and received several drugs. The inappropriateness of the doses detected in renal disease-patients were 40 cases including 95.00% overdoses and 5.00% subdoses; and in heart disease-patients were 10 cases with 70.00% overdoses and 30.00% subdoses. The drug use duplications in renal disease-patients and heart disease-patients were 1.72% and 1.23%, respectively. In renal disease-patients, the synergistic combinations of non antibacterials was 5.17% and the synergistic combinations of non antibacterials was 5.86%; and in heart disease-patients, the synergistic combinations of antibacterials was 7.41%, inappropriateness of non antibacterials combinations was 0.62% and the synergistic combinations of non antibacterials was 10.49%. In renal disease-patients, the pharmacodynamic interactions and pharmacokinetic interactions were each 4.83%; and in heart disease-patients, the pharmacodynamic interactions was 25.92% and pharmacokinetic interactions was 3.08% .
