The hollow shape of bamboo with a certain diameter results in dimensional limitations. So that dimensional modifications needed to optimize utilization. One of them is by making bamboo laminated boards. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of fiber direction arrangement and layer composition bamboo hybrid laminated boards on physical and mechanical properties. Beside that, it is also to know the machining properties of bamboo zephyr. The raw material is flat sheets apus bamboo (zephyr). Zephyr is arranged in three layers using isocyanate adhesive (P.I Bond) with a glue spread rate 300 grams/m2. The core layer arranged parallel (Laminated Bamboo Lumber / LBL) and perpendicular (plybamboo) to the outer layer (face/back). There are variations on the core substitution with two layers of falcata wood veneer (hybrid). Glue spread rate between falcata veneers is 170 grams/m2. Boards were manufactured by cold pressing for 1 hour with a pressure 22.22 kgf /cm2. The tests include physical properties (moisture content, density, delamination, swelling-shrinkage and water absorption), mechanical properties (Modulus of Rupture (MOR), Modulus of Elasticity (MOE), shear strength, and screw withdrawal strength) and machining properties (planing and sanding). The results showed arrangement of the fiber direction had a significant effect on dimensional stability, MOR, MOE, shear strength and screw withdrawal strength. The layer composition in general had no significant effect on physical and mechanical properties. The bonding quality of bamboo laminated boards with isocyanate adhesive (P.I Bond) was considered quite good, which was shown by the absence of delamination in all samples. Machining properties of bamboo zephyr as face/back showed bamboo zephyr is defect-free raw material and classified class I (very good). Bamboo hybrid laminated board can be an alternative product based on physical, mechanical and machining properties according to laminated board standards. text
