Description
Summary:The phenomenon of sea level rise can threat the environment, social, and economic conditions in coastal areas, especially on small islands. This research aims to estimate the rate of sea level rise in the waters of Panggang Island, Kepulauan Seribu, DKI Jakarta. Panggang island is one of the small islands that has a dense population within an area of approximately 15,7193 hectare and total population of 4388. The land use of this island is intended as a residential area. The used research method is a quantitative analysis method by which the following data set are analyzed: altimetry satellite Jason-1, Jason-2, and Jason-3 data in 2002-2019, DEM (Digital Elevation Model) data, and buildings data. Estimation of sea level rise is derived from SLA (Sea Level Anomaly) data that has been extracted from altimetry satellite data. From the calculation of 17 year altimetry data, the value of sea level rise in the waters of Panggang Island is 4,39 mm/year. After being integrated with DEM and building data, Panggang Island began to experience flooding that affected coastal structures in the 100th year. Analysis of adaptation methods that can be used to overcome this is divided into two, structural adaptation and non-structural adaptation. Structural adaptation efforts that can be done are the construction of sea wall and risen the elevation of house foundation, while the non-structural adaptation efforts that can be done is counseling related to the danger of sea level rise given to the people of Panggang Island.
