Summary: | The textile industry isn’t the most eco-friendly, hence designing a product that has
minimum impact towards the environment remains a challenge in adjacent to the
development of “sustainability” as an issue. One of the approaches is to utilize
textile production waste. The use of textile production waste is a possible
alternative to process the leftover textile materials, moreover, an article of clothing
that is “recycled” with a disordered and reformed design structure in order to
generate an entirely new product. The movie “In The Mood For Love” is brought
up as a reference for the use of colour and form to strengthen the creative process.
This study visually assesses the movie in order to translate its visual elements to a
six-look avant-garde fashion collection through upcycling specifically boro,
slashing, and ruffling. Look 3, look 4, and look 5 of the collection is brought into
realization and the rest are made through 3D simulation. |
