INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/50040 The event of the September 30, 1965 Movement or also known as G30S / PKI, was one of the important events in the process of changing of ideology from the Old Order regime to the New Order in Indonesia. This incident was then commemorated by the erection of a monument by sculptor Edhi Sunarso, named the Pancasila Sakti Monument in the area where the kidnapping, torture and murder of seven generals took place. In addition to commemorating the death of seven army generals, this monument also contains a relief depicting a series of events about communism in Indonesia, especially the G30S / PKI event, according to the official version of the New Order government. One of the most striking elements that marked the change in ideology of the Old Order to the New Order in this relief is the idea and the depiction of a female figure. How do the reliefs on the Pancasila Sakti Monument represent the figure of a woman in accordance with the historical narrative of the New Order Government? This study aims to understand how women are depicted in the reliefs of the Pancasila Sakti Monument according to the historical narrative of the New Order Government in the reliefs of the Pancasila Sakti Monument. This research was conducted with literature review, direct observation to the object of research and analysis using Panofsky's iconographic study. The relief section that visualizes the figure of a woman is contained in a section that describes two different events, namely the depiction of the night of the G30S / PKI Incident and followed by a depiction of the post-eradication of Communist elements in Indonesia. The Relief Monument of Pancasila Sakti visualizes a woman who fits the Old Order ideology who is active in politics with negative connotations while showing the New Order's way of seeing women who seem to fulfill their traditional gender roles and are present to emphasize the emotional element of a tragedy. Women in the reliefs of the Pancasila Sakti Monument are depicted as one of the important elements that must be controlled in the formation of a country's ideology. This research found that the depiction of realism with militaristic tendencies in the Pancasila Sakti Monument has redefined how women appear in the view of the new regime by using Card Stacking, Name Calling, Transfer, and Bandwagon techniques to form black propaganda against the Old Order ideology. This was done by the New Order in an effort to shape and determine what was accepted and what was not in the life order of the New Order regime.. text |
