Description
Summary:Urban life is well-known for its rushed activities. This has an impact on one of the basic human needs; food. With a very limited amount of time, urban people tend to consume instant foods. In order to support the quality of human life which is gradually declining due to a shift in the paradigm of food culture, Food Hub typology was formed to accommodate food processing cycle in one building. With the integration of food processing functions, this building is able to follow the rhythm of urban life, yet still maintains the quality of human life. The main design issues are healthy lifestyle, food security, and land use efficiency. The project is located on Bendungan Hilir A Street, Tanah Abang District, Central Jakarta with an area of 8,260 m2. The basic concept of this design aims to fulfill the needs of three different times; past, present, and future. Past is about bringing back the distribution function. Present is about the presence of new typology that embodies the food processing cycle. Future is about how this new typology can be a solution to the main issues.
